Prepare or respond to an extension-of-time submission from contemporaneous programmes, notices, and facts — a commercial package, not a method textbook.

C02 — The problem

The technical problem

Extension of Time is the contractual product: a request or determination of additional time under the instrument. Teams often confuse it with Time Impact Analysis (a method that may support the product) or with a rebuilt as-planned versus as-built story prepared years later.

This capability is the EOT assignment: frame the events, the notice position, the contemporaneous programmes, and the time requested or assessed. Outcomes are not promised. Legal strategy remains with counsel.

C03 — Engagement

When this capability is needed

  1. 01
    Prospective EOT

Delay is running and a submission is due under the contract.

  2. 02
    Assessment

An owner or PMC must determine an EOT with a technical basis.

  3. 03
    Rebuttal

The other party’s EOT cannot be left unanswered on the programmes.

  4. 04
    Closeout

Time relief still open and the record is ageing.

C04 — Scope / method

How the work is approached

Technical and commercial preparation or assessment of EOT. TIA, delay and disruption analysis, or quantum may be companion assignments. This assignment is the EOT product, not every delay method.

  1. 01
    Frame events and notices

What is claimed, on what contract mechanics, with what contemporaneous notice.

  2. 02
    Assemble the programme record

Which files were actually used, not which files look convenient now.

  3. 03
    Apply the agreed analysis method

Often TIA or another method scoped separately; the EOT wraps the findings.

  4. 04
State the time requested or assessed

Against the contractual dates that matter.

  5. 05
Hand to counsel / commercial lead

Facts and exhibits, not a substitute legal opinion.

C06 — Decision value

What this work is used to decide

C10 — Boundaries

Important distinctions

Technical EOT support does not replace appointed counsel or an expert appointment. Value Construction does not promise claim results.
